Cooking Perfect Pastured Pork
Our pastured pork is full of flavor!
Keep the seasonings simple and use sea salt, thyme and/or rosemary. It will taste great with your favorite seasonings too, but we love the sweet flavors of Farmers Dave and Jodi’s pastured pork.
The USDA recommends cooking pork to an internal temperature of 145 degrees. Allow it to rest for 5-10 minute afterwards. This will keep the sweet, delicate flavor and tender texture of the pastured pork. Try not to overcook. While it will still have superior taste, you’ll miss out on the juicy flavors when cooked to perfection!
✓ Use a thermometer to monitor the cooking progress. Since pastured pork cooks so quickly, your pork can go from perfectly cooked to over-cooked in less than a minute.
✓ Let the pork sit covered and in a warm place for 5 to 8 minutes after removing from heat to let the juices redistribute.
✓ For pork roasts, be sure to give them extra time to cook. We recommend at least 6 hours on low in the crock pot or 2-3 hours in the oven at 325. It will be so tender!
✓ Tenderloin should be cooked quickly after marinating. It is a very lean, but very tender cut. Don’t overcook it, or it will dry out.
✓ Pork Loin Roast is best when roasted much like a whole chicken. Cook it until the internal temperature is about 145 and simply season with your favorites.
