We know labels in the grocery store can be confusing. There are so many and unfortunately, they can sometimes be misleading. That's why we want to connect with you as your farmers - so we can transparently show you how we raise our livestock and answer the questions you and your family have!

Before we begin, know you can always reach out with questions. Send us an email or give us a call and we would be happy to discuss.

What is the difference between grass fed and grass finished beef? What are the differences between our beef and beef you'll find in a grocery store (even if it is labeled grass fed or natural)?

Beef from our farm and the Grass Fed Cattle Company is 100% grass fed and grass finished, which means our cattle are only given grass. Simple as that! Even in the winter, when they can no longer graze through the snow and ice, they are still given dried grass we cut and dry during the summer, which is called hay. We'll get to the significance of 100% grass fed and grass finished in a moment, but let's talk about labels first. Just because something in the grocery store is labeled grass fed or natural does not mean the cattle were only given grass. Almost all cattle are given pasture for a part of their life, but they can be supplemented with grain or fed solely grain for a portion of their lives as well. What we eat matters - and it does for the cattle too!

100% grass fed and grass finished beef offers a variety of benefits. Our beef provides more healthy omega-3 fatty acids, conjugated linoleic acids and vitamins. Grass fed beef supports a pasture based landscape reducing erosion, increasing soil health and nutrient density of the forage and the beef produced on that landscape. All these are benefits of buying local grass fed and finished meat. We are blessed to be able to produce food in this manner and are so grateful for your support and business!
