Why should I buy meat in bulk from the Grassfed Cattle Co.?
Whether you're new to the Grassfed Cattle Co or been a customer for years, we are constantly asked about our bulk boxes. You may wonder if you have room in your freezer, if you'll actually save money, how long it stays fresh, how to thaw frozen meat, what to do with cuts you've never cooked, how to order and pickup our grassfed meat in bulk and the list goes on and on! We'll provide insight on each of these questions, concerns and problems as we share the top three reasons you should consider buying meat in bulk from the Grassfed Cattle Co.
1. Yes, you can save money while getting higher quality, local grassfed and pastured meat.
It's a simple as that - you can save money and still get higher quality meat that you can feel confident feeding your family.
Here's the comparison!
Grassfed Cattle Co. 1/8th Beef Share is 45 pounds of 100% grassfed and grass finished mixed cuts and is $395 (although we often have a $20 off discount and always do when you organize a cow pool).
If you bought the same amount of the same cuts totaling 45 pounds of grassfed beef at a grocery store, the total would be $450 or more (based on our most recent quarterly price comparison of local grocery stores, coops, etc.)! And that doesn't include the many trips to the grocery store. While we realize you need at least 2 cubic feet of space, this is a significant savings in price alone.
2. Convenience is key. We know your time is valuable.
Not only will you save money, you'll save time too! How many times a week do you go to the grocery store or order a grocery delivery? Imagine not having to think about adding beef, pork or chicken to your list! Your protein options will options will be higher quality, fresh and in your freezer ready to be prepared.
We are often asked how to thaw raw, frozen meat. Here's what the USDA recommends for thawing including refridgerator and cold water thawing, our favorite thawing options for our grassfed and pastured meat.
The Grassfed Cattle Co. was created to make buying local, healthy, grassfed meat convenient for people who may not have the time to support a local farmer otherwise! You can choose pickup, delivery and shipping. We offer pickups by appointment twice a week at our Edina, Minnesota location. Delivery is available in the Twin Cities. We ship small boxes anywhere in Minnesota, Iowa, North Dakota, South Dakota and Wisconsin.

We'll remind you about your pickup and delivery a few days before and are always happy to answer your questions!
3. You'll have healthy, fresh, high quality grassfed and pastured meat.
If you don't eat a lot of meat, aren't sure how to cook certain cuts or wonder why our grassfed beef and pastured pork and chicken are healthier, don't worry - we got you.
All our meat is individually packaged and vacuumed sealed. It stays fresh frozen for three years! Here's how much freezer space you'll need if you purchase the following bulk boxes:
Eighth Beef Share - 2 cubic feet
Quarter Beef Share - 3.5 cubic feet
Half Beef Share - 7 cubic feet
Half Pork Share - 2.5 cubic feet
